This gold coin is a replica of sterling silver coin minted approximately 2100 years ago (88 - 84 BCE.) from Islands off Caria, Rhodes or modern day Turkey a Greek colony.   

The coin depicts the head of the sun god Helios, from which many towns claimed to descend. On the back a rose and the name of the magistrate of the time.  

The rose is a visual pun referring to the name of Rhodes.
