This gold coin is a replica of a silver coin minted approximately 2100 years ago (200 - 150 BCE.) in the city of Histiaia on the island of Euboea, an important Greek city-state located in the Aegean Sea.

The coin depicts the nymph Histiaia, the city’s patron deity, wearing a diadem and a veil. The second side depicts Histiaia seated on the stern of a boat. Surrounding the figure is the inscription "IΣTIAIA," identifying the coin as being issued by the city of Histiaia.
