This gold coin is a replica of sterling silver coin minted approximately 2510 years ago (495 - 480 BCE.) from Akragas, Sicily Modern Day Agrigento     

Akragas was a younger city state in 580 BCE and eager to declare its strength on land and at sea, early on minted its own coins. With a crab to represent land and sea and a Erne or sea eagle to represent Zeus.
