In vino veritas is a classic Latin phrase meaning "in wine, there is truth." The Roman author Pliny the Elder later popularized the proverb in his work Natural History. The Greek poet Alcaeus wrote about wine and truth around 600 BCE.
The ancient Greeks believed wearing amethyst would prevent intoxication. This rich, wine-toned sapphire is so lovely, maybe it does, in fact, have magical powers.
