This gold coin is a replica of sterling silver coin minted approximately 2525 years ago (500 - 450 BCE) from Tilos, Caria a Greek city in south west Asia Minor on the Aegean shore of modern day Turkey.

Helmeted head of Athena with obverse Janus. The god of beginnings, and January's namesake, Janus is also the god of gates, transitions, time, doorways, passages, and endings. Janus looks to the future and to the past and is depicted with two faces, presiding over the beginning and ending of conflict.
